The benefit of giving back

Today was my first day back in the office after several days off. I have to say, days off are a very good thing. Unlike many people, I was lazy and stayed very close to home. I saw Dreamgirls (again), caught up on my magazine reading and even finished a book. Don’t you love a good mystery?

Today, I was a member of a panel talking about networking for The Minerva Foundation. I had a chance to talk today to a group of 20 women about the workforce and networking.

What a rush!!! Not only do you have a captive audience but you know these women are excited about doing something great. I love that energy! I am a firm believer in giving back. Think about what you have. Not what you don’t have but what you have. Everyone is special and unique and has something to share that someone else can benefit from. We are such a blessed people. And we all have something to give. I have had some great volunteer opportunities. I have mentored a group of “high-risk” middle school girls. I have worked on a Habitat for Humanity home for one day while on vacation. I have helped feed the homeless. I have donated money to a number of causes that have touched my heart. And now I have the chance to work with The Minerva Foundation to help women be empowered. HOW COOL IS THAT!!
