I wasn’t really gone, just a bit lazy. Now, after starting a blog for Hodes Canada, I have a better understanding of this blogging business.
So I am back and what an interesting time to be back…during an election year. As you know, there is plenty of sniping during an election year. The interesting thing is that most of the sniping comes not from the candidates but their camps and their supporters.
I just find it very interesting that anyone feels it’s necessary to compare themselves to the competition. The most famous comparison is Coke vs. Pepsi.
One of the reasons I love Coca Cola is because of the taste but also because of their commercials. Besides “I like to teach the world to sing…” I like that the Coke commercials rarely if ever compared themselves to Pepsi. Pepsi, on the other hand, were known for their comparison commercials. Remember the Pepsi challenge?
If we apply the same thinking to the Presidential candidates, is it in their benefit to compare themselves to their opponent? Or, does it hold more weight to stand on their beliefs, promises, and their plan for the people.
I’m a firm believer that if you have something to offer, you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone whether that be in business or personal. Or in an election.
