Solutions for a Social Media Snob

Several weeks ago, our team had a brief discussion regarding Facebook and some of the posts their friends share. Some of the updates mentioned included:

  • stay-at-home moms who talk about every minute of their day
  • the foodie who shares their breakfast, lunch and dinner menus plus pictures
  • new moms who shares everything “Little Johnny” does in a day

You probably see posts just like these everyday.

There’s only one way to avoid what you may feel are annoying posts and updates in your timelines and feeds and keep you from being a Social Media snob…

Block   /   Hide   /   Unsubscribe   /   Unfollow   /   Unfriend

I know of what I speak. My Facebook timeline is rather random. I attribute it to Facebook being connected to my Twitter feed, which I can also use to update my LinkedIn status. Social media is, after all, part of my job. Not to mention that many of my FB friends and followers are colleagues in the marketing/communication biz. You know what that means? Some of my updates are work topics. And in that odd occassion I do cook, I’m proud of my accomplishment and will share a pic of my culinary masterpiece.

It’s who I am. And I’m not changing.

Look, I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and my updates aren’t interesting to 100% of my followers 100% of the time. This is why in April I posted this:

Facebook update

At the same time, I did a little bit of cleaning myself. 😉

There’s no need for you to be a Social Media Snob. With a click of a button you can Block/Hide/Unsubscribe/Unfollow/Unfriend

Social media is very similar to tv. If you don’t like the show that’s on, you have every right to change the channel.
